What
does Halal mean?
Well, if this questions has been on your mind I will clarify, Halal
is the Arabic word for lawful or permissible, it can be placed in
any context however in this segment it is referring to food.
Why
Do Muslims eat Halal food?
Firstly and fore most, Muslims eat Halal food because Allah has
instructed us to do so. Allah has told us in the Holy Quran “
Eat of that which hath been bestowed on you as food lawful (Halal)
and good, and keep your duty to Allah in whom ye are believers”
(5: 88)
The difference between animal products, that is Halal or not is
the official slaughtering of the animal. This is done only to ensure
that the animal being slaughtered goes through minimum pain.
