“Always
tell someone how you feel, then they will know”. This is a
saying that I have carried throughout my life and till this very
day I have not attempted to use it. I have also been told to “always
remember the compliments received, and to forget about the rude
remarks”, although being part of such a vibrant, unique and
exceptional group of young women, I am more than confident and proud
to say that through the years of knowing such a group of people,
I have not received a rude remark or even a remark that has hurt
me emotionally in any way.
Come to think
of it, I actually feel privileged to have finally found such wonderful
friends who love me for the sake of Allah, and when they see a wrongdoing
of mine or anyone else in the team, they would let us know in a
polite and sincere way, showing their love and sisterhood which
is promoted in Islam. I am extremely grateful that Allah has sent
a wonderful group of girls to form the exceptional team that we
have.
The Collins
English Dictionary describes a friend as “a person whom one
knows well and likes, a supporter, a person who expresses liking”.
In the poem, I have expressed what a friend means to me, but I am
not referring to just any type of friend. I am writing about the
great team of young Muslim women that I have known and worked with
over the past few years in many events and activities. These include:
• The United Muslim Women Association Youth Group
• Organized trips to Australia’s Wonderland
• A Mural which represented the environmental status of the
Bankstown District
• Shifa Youth Leadership Camp
• Spiritual Youth Retreat
• And now producing Reflections Magazine
I believe
that this team of sensational young Muslim women will be together
for a long time because we all love each other for the sake of Allah.
And when you love someone solely for Allah’s sake, and not
for any material gain, the work you do and the friendship that exists
between you will be blessed inshallah, with the will of Allah.
